Life at ARC Oxford
At the centre of our campus is its social hub, the Oxford Factory and the Oxford Works. A beautifully designed and relaxed social area, boasting a spacious studio for fitness classes, great food, coffee and plenty of space and seating for any number of events, meetings and informal catch ups.
Enjoy the best of both worlds – the convenience of a Campus and a vibrant University City lifestyle. ARC Oxford is home Health Clubs, Hotels and a Shopping Centre, and is only a 10 minute bike ride to Oxford High Street.
A dedicated community manager helps shape a handpicked, curated events calendar for the best possible environment all year round. A community square – The Marketplace – with outside seating provides tranquil green space, and a perfect spot for enjoying a morning coffee, community BBQ or street food festival.

ARC OXFORD’S ORIGINS
From motor innovation to pandemic responses: an engine of advancement over 100 years in the making
In 1912, William Morris bought the former Oxford Military College and moved his car company into the site. Morris pioneered mass production in the UK by building what became affectionately known as “the old tin shed.” The factory produced cars such as the Morris Oxford, the MG Midget and the legendary Mini.
Morris, who became Viscount Nuffield in 1938, was a noted philanthropist. He endowed four Medical Professorships to help establish the Oxford Medical School, founded Nuffield College and the Nuffield Foundation. In response to the polio epidemic he retooled part of the factory to make Iron Lungs for any hospital that requested one.
Once car manufacturing ceased in the 1980’s the campus worked with Oxford City Council to create a new innovation hub that Nuffield would be proud of.
A BRIGHT FUTURE
One of the world’s largest investors, Brookfield, purchased ARC Oxford in 2021 and is planning a generational investment in the campus with a vision to create a 21st Century Science and Innovation community.
The ARC Oxford team is working with a leading team of architects, planners and our local community to make the campus greener, more sustainable and create more world-class space for science and innovation. We will update the website with more details on these future plans soon.
ARC Oxford is already home to our manufacturing facility known as Oxbox, which is in operation for our viral vector manufacturing activities and also supporting the manufacturing of a COVID-19 vaccine candidate. In March 2020, as our activities and workforce expanded, we took the decision to relocate our corporate headquarters team from our existing HQ to a new facility on the Park. ARC have helpfully accommodated all of our commercial requirements and we are delighted with the quality of the building and the wider environment.
