Sustainability is at the core of our mission.

We build sustainable clusters that nurture science and innovation, guided by our comprehensive Sustainability Brief, shaping the design and construction of every new ARC building and major refurbishment. Our commitment goes beyond words. From EV charging installations to solar panels adorning our rooftops, we’re turning sustainability into a tangible reality.

While we take immense pride in our accomplishments, we recognize that our mission is far from complete. Over the next decade, we’ll push even further, relentlessly reducing our carbon footprint and championing sustainable practices across our entire organization.

OUR 2030 TARGETS

LIMIT CARBON IN CONSTRUCTION

We are aiming to transition our built environment towards Net Zero Carbon with a focus on halving the upfront embodied carbon of our new developments by 2030.

REDUCE OUR ENERGY USE INTENSITY

By applying a Fabric First approach to achieve high energy performance and incorporating Low and Zero Carbon technologies such as air source heat pumps and rooftop solar panels, we are on a mission to cut operational carbon emissions from our buildings.

BOOST CAMPUS BIODIVERSITY

By managing our estate to maximise its biodiversity value, implementing wildlife-friendly external lights to combat night-time light pollution, and new and improved ecological habitats, we are dedicated to enhancing biodiversity and creating a haven where vibrant and diverse ecosystems thrive.

EXPORT ZERO WASTE TO LANDFILL

We are committed to bid farewell to landfills while ensuring over 90% of construction waste finds new life through recycling or recovery for purposes other than energy generation.

ENABLE SUSTAINABLE TRAVEL

We’re blazing a trail towards a future of cleaner and greener mobility. From discounted bus fares and free bike loan options to convenient EV charging stations across our campus, we’re empowering our staff and visitors with the power of sustainable travel.
