We all know that sleep is important, but in a high performance environment there is always pressure to do more. In this session, we discuss the subtle ways sleep loss can influence teamwork, leadership, decision-making and wellbeing. We uncover the mechanics of how sleep works, and how to prevent stress from disrupting a good night’s sleep.

Dr Sophie Bostock (@drsophiebostock) is a Sleep Evangelist on a mission: to help millions of people to improve their lives by unlocking the science of sleep and performance. Sophie studied Medicine and Entrepreneurship before completing a PhD in Psychobiology at UCL, where she became fascinated by the power of sleep for enhancing health and performance.

Following several years with digital medicine company, Sleepio, Sophie launched TheSleepScientist.com to provide performance training and coaching for clients in business, the military and elite sport. Sophie regularly features as a media sleep expert, and has been invited to deliver talks for TEDx and Talks@Google. She is an advisor to The Sleep Charity.

Sophie continues to experiment with her own sleep and performance. In 2021, she rowed around Britain to raise funds for the British Heart Foundation. In 2022, she paddled 2000km from Canada to Alaska, and competed for GBR in the World Coastal Rowing Championships.
